“I am Chinese American”
I read this article in Forbes today, entitled, “I am Chinese American,” and I found myself nodding enthusiastically to it over and over again. Written by “Louisa” and originally posted to the blog LoveLoveChina (which I’ve never heard of), I was struck with the thought that this is how many of “us” feel.
It’s Okay to Be Takei.

LALALALALALALALALLALALALALALALA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not quite sure why there are still people out there who think that ignoring something will make it go away.
Tennesee legislature, I’m talking to you. The State Senate in Tennessee has passed a a bill being dubbed the “Don’t Say gay law.” If it were to pass the House, the bill would prohibit teachers from discussing homosexuality in the classroom.
Thinking of you, Isabella
Today, my friend Isabella is undergoing some crazy scary stuff. I don’t want to share her story – it’s not my place – but I know that she believes in the power of good thoughts.
So even though you don’t know her or what she’s going through, can you all please just send lots of good thoughts (of good health and outcomes!) her way this morning? Thanks.
And Isabella – I’m sending you a heap of good vibes.
Damn you, Fox
I’m in mourning. Frankly, I should know better, but inevitably, the optimistic side of me takes hold, I fall prey to the same behavior over and over again. I am in the midst of an incredibly unhealthy relationship. What is it that they call doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result? Oh right, insanity.
I am a genius.
A bold statement, I know. But after fighting with my daughter to take a nap, wherein she screamed bloody murder when I left her, and when I came back kept commanding me to “Lie down!” and “Blanket!” (There’s a gray blanket in her room that we use if we’ve just given up and lie down on the floor with her); I finally came up with a brainstorm.
Thank you, Tina Fey.
This Mother’s Day, I leave with you an excerpt from Tina Fey’s new memoir, “Bossypants.” I saw it on Facebook from a friend, and heard this story on NPR (Tina Fey Reveals All (And Then Some) In ‘Bossypants’ : NPR.)
I think Ms. Fey says all there needs to be said.
Tina Fey’s Prayer for her daughter
First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
Happy Everything…Just a Little Late
I was doing so well for a while, posting twice a week. Ah well.
I meant to post this last week for Easter, but life got in the way. I admire the inclusive, entrepreneurial spirit embodied by the Japanese restaurant that had this in the window. In case you can’t quite make it out, there’s a Buddha through the window.
